Our
Story
Fradei, Venetian dialect for “Brothers”, was opened in late 2018 by Clément Besset. We serve French-influenced cuisine featuring seasonal, responsibly-sourced ingredients that primarily come from the New York area.
Fradei carries a deep commitment to being held accountable for the sourcing of all of our food and wine. We work with farms, ranches and purveyors we know and trust who employ sustainable practices. We are also proud to serve low-intervention wines with an emphasis on European producers, many of whom we consider friends.
We are a small operation with an accomplished team featuring Zach Nelsen leading the kitchen. Prior to Fradei, Zach worked in respected kitchens, including time as Chef de Cuisine at Birch in Milwaukee after being part of Gramercy Tavern.
Owner Clément Besset is responsible for Front of House and oversees the beverage program. Originally from Brittany in France, he has a deep appreciation for French cuisine and low-intervention wine. Clément started his hospitality career at the renown wine bar Aux Deux Amis in Paris.

Mission
Our goal at Fradei is to source ingredients and wine responsibly, work with producers we trust, and create a unique dining experience with a positive environmental impact by generating as little waste as possible. In turn, we wish to foster an appreciation in the community, not only for what we are doing, but how we are doing it.
